By now you will know that Apple has released iOS 7.1 to the public, it brings many enhancements; such as speed improvements, and bug fixes. But it also fixes Evasion jailbreak, which will now render your device as a non-jailbroken one. So if you restore your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 7, you will get iOS 7.1 and the jailbreak will be gone. But thanks to Semi-restore; you can restore without losing your jailbreak. Apple’s release of iOS 7.1 brings an end to Evasion jailbreak. As you can expect many people have not downloaded iOS 7.1 right now because of this. But sometimes you need to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch due to an error, and when you restore you jailbreak is gone too.

But thanks to the updated version of Semi-restore, you can restore iOS 7 without losing your jailbreak!


Semi-restore which was released when iOS 5 came out has been updated for iOS 7. It works on all versions of iOS 7 (except iOS 7.1) and will let you restore to that specific firmware without you losing your jailbreak, which is pretty great.

Before downloading Semi-restore make sure you have OpenSSH installed on your jailbroken device. And for security reasons change your password for it (by default it is set to ‘alpine’).
